    Jack Z. Chen, MBA

    Founder and CEO

    Mr. Chen is an entrepreneur and pioneer in U.S.-Asia cross-border investment and operations. He is one of the first investors in a promising cognitive science firm Magceutics/Neurocentria, where he was also a board member and actively involved in developing the company's strategy. As Founder and CEO of Transworld Capital Group, Mr. Chen completed some of the largest M&A transactions between the U.S. and Asia, one of which was hailed as "one of the landmark deals of the era" by The Wall Street Journal. Mr. Chen has been a guest speaker at Harvard, MIT, UCLA, Brookings Institute, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Embassy and Tsinghua University. He has also served as a board member of the Asia Society Southern California, Methodist Hospital Foundation, American Chinese CEO Organization and Committee 2005, and was recently appointed Visiting Professor of Master of Applied Psychology at Fudan University.

    Walter Greenleaf, Ph.D.

    Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer

    Walter Greenleaf is a Distinguished Visiting Scholar at Stanford University, Director of National Mental Health Innovation Center University of Colorado, and Co-founder of Virtual Reality-Immersive Technology Clinic Stanford Healthcare. He is known internationally as an early pioneer in the medical application of virtual environment technology. For the last 25 years he has developed innovative clinical systems for use in both physical and cognitive medicine, specifically focusing on the use of virtual reality technology. Walter has served as CEO and founder of InWorld Solutions, a company specializing in the therapeutic use of virtual worlds for behavioral healthcare, as well as Virtually Better, a company that develops virtual environments for the treatment of phobias, anxiety disorders and PTSD.

    Albert "Skip" Rizzo, Ph.D.

    Senior Director of Research

    Skip Rizzo is the Director for Medical Virtual Reality at USC's Institute for Creative Technologies, as well as a Research Professor at the USC Davis School of Gerontology and USC Keck School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. His work using virtual reality received the American Psychological Association’s 2010 Award for Outstanding Contributions. He is Senior Editor of the MIT Press journal “Presence: Teleoperators and Virtual Environments,” and sits on a number of editorial boards for journals in the areas of cognition and computer technology.

    Jennifer Wang

    Director of Operations

    Jennifer Wang was a Principal at West Monroe Partners, and has over 15 years of experience in developing technical solutions and providing technical consulting. She also has extensive skills in database design and development, data analysis, desktop and web application design and development, and software product management. She has built strong partnerships between delivery teams and software stakeholders to produce an array of technology-enabled business solutions with exceptional outcomes for clients. Jennifer also led the development of West Monroe Partners’ trademark web and mobile application platform, ActivityTrak®. She holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Beijing University of Technology, and a Master of Science in computer science from University of Houston. She is also a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE).

    Missy Zhongmei Jiang M.D. , MSc

    Co-Founder, General Manager (China)

    Dr. Missy, Zhongmei Jiang earned her medical degree from China Medical University and her Master of Science in health informatics from the University of Wales in Swansea, UK. As a resident and attending physician specializing in pediatrics, Dr. Jiang worked at the First Affiliated Hospital of Shenzhen University (formerly Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital) for over 15 years. Dr. Jiang then brought her medical and health informatics experience to GE Healthcare, where she worked for over four years. There she collaborated with the upstream marketing team to develop marketing strategies for new medical IT products, cooperated with the R&D team on product development, and assisted the sales team in communication with medical professionals in East Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia. Dr. Jiang has also facilitated communication between medical professionals from countries across Asia to implement IT solutions and analyze clinical data. She has extensive experience in implementing and deploying medical IT products in Asian countries.

     

    As an international physician, Dr. Jiang visited and studied at Cleveland Clinic in 2018 and Boston Children's Hospital, an affiliated hospital of Harvard University, in 2019.

    Aaron Ma

    Director of Data Science

    Aaron is a data expert who specializes in data science and machine learning. Before joining Cognitive Leap, he was a Biostatistician at Fulgent Genetics LLC. Aaron holds a Bachelor of Science in statistics and applied math from UC Berkeley, and a Master of Science in biostatistics from Columbia University. His research areas involve data platforms, machine learning and computational neurology.

    Vicky Dai is an accounting and finance professional with an MBA from USC Marshall School of Business. Before earning her MBA, Vicky worked for PwC and a world-leading healthcare company. Vicky has rich experience and solid knowledge in financial accounting, auditing, SOX and IPO projects in the healthcare industry.

    Vanessa Liu, MBA, Ph.D. Candidate

    Partner (China)

    Vanessa is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in management psychology, child development and educational psychology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Psychology. As a CPA, National Secondary Psychological Counselor, Student Academic Planner, and UCLA-certified Memory Trainer, she holds a range of interdisciplinary credentials. Previously, Vanessa served as CEO of a subsidiary of a large publicly listed company, and was able to bring the subsidiary to profitability in its second year. An accomplished researcher and consultant, her work has covered global comparative education methodologies, and she has worked over 100 cases as a child education and parenting consultant. Vanessa volunteers and lectures at Beijing Yunfan Future Education Assistance Foundation. She is a special-term professor at several learning centers and technical schools, and a special guest lecturer at the U.S.-China Alliance for Developmental Brain Health.

    Daniel Tomaszewski, Pharm.D., Ph.D.

    Senior Consultant – Market Access

    Daniel Tomaszewski earned a PharmD and PhD from the University of Minnesota – College of Pharmacy. Dr. Tomaszewski is an expert in the areas of pharmaceutical and health economics, payer decision support, managed care organizations, and market access. Dr. Tomaszewski is a Senior Fellow at the USC Schaeffer Center for Health Policy and Economics and is an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical and Health Economics at the USC School of Pharmacy. As a pharmacist he worked as a clinical pharmacist providing comprehensive medication management in a community mental health center and as an outpatient pharmacist at a large health system. He has experience working directly with healthcare practitioners, large payer organizations, and pharmaceutical manufacturers. In addition, Dr. Tomaszewski continues to collaborate on a variety of outcomes-based research projects focused on pediatric pain management and wellbeing.

    Lauren Stockly​

    Clinical Director

    Lauren Stockly is a child and adolescent mental health therapist with nearly 10 years of experience. After earning her MSW from UCLA, Lauren went on to become certified as a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S) and Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist (ECMHS). Her practice integrates Play Therapy and Mindfulness with a range of insight-oriented and evidence-based techniques. In addition to her specialization in EMDR/trauma therapy, Lauren is launching a line of bilateral stimulation tools designed to enhance emotional regulation, attention and processing. Lauren serves on the California Association for Play Therapy’s Executive Board and also runs the popular blog CreativePlayTherapist.com. She is in the process of publishing her first therapeutic children’s book, “Be Mindful of Monsters.”

    Crystal Goh, Ph.D.

    Scientific Consultant

    Crystal previously served as Chief Scientific Officer at Cognitive Leap. She is a neuroscientist who specializes in the commercialization of nascent research in cognitive neuroscience. Before joining Cognitive Leap, Crystal was a Research Fellow at UC Berkeley’s Sleep and Neuroimaging Lab, and also co-founded Araya Brain Imaging, an AI platform that helps individuals track neuroplasticity in their brains. She continues to serve as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University College London's Applied Neuroscience Lab, developing social engagement strategies with nonprofit organizations in Asia and the USA through scientific content creation and program development. She is also a neuroscience columnist for Mindful.org and a mindfulness Instructor for tech corporations such as Google and Alibaba.

    Michael Ehrig

    Clinical Application Specialist

    Michael Ehrig is a mental health clinician who specializes in working with children and families. For over five years, he has worked in a wide variety of clinical settings, ranging from community nonprofit organizations to schools and private clinics. Michael has presented on the integration of technology into mental health in national and international settings, and utilizes various technological platforms and evidence-based practices to address cognitive and emotional behavior. Michael obtained his bachelor's degree in psychology and Master of Science in marriage and family therapy from the University of La Verne.

    Chien-Yen “Kevin” Chang

    Senior Software Consultant

    Chien-Yen “Kevin” Chang is a Senior Software Engineer. After completing his master’s in mechanical engineering at National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan, he worked on automated optical inspection systems, haptic systems, and health-centered virtual reality applications. Kevin served as a Research Assistant at Haptic Lab, IMSC, University of Southern California, where he used game engine technology to build software and testing systems that utilized sensors to interact with natural human motor behaviors. Kevin has won numerous accolades, including first prize in a thesis competition sponsored by Lam Research Co. in Taiwan, and best paper awards at major gatherings, such as the Wireless Health Conference, HCI and IITSEC. Along with his team, Kevin created a rehabilitation tool kit in 2010 called Mystic Isle, which used Unity3D to integrate with Microsoft Kinect Sensors. Mystic Isle has been tested and used to treat brain injuries in several rehabilitation institutes, as well as directly in patients’ homes.

    Emerald Jones

    Emerald Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in general studies with a concentration in autism spectrum disorders from St. Joseph’s University, as well as an associate degree in early childhood education from Santa Monica College. She has 7 years of experience in childcare and has worked with children with different abilities in multiple capacities. Emerald began doing social media for Cognitive Leap in June 2021 and is now pursuing a social media marketing certificate at UC Santa Cruz’s Silicon Valley extension program and transitioning to a social media marketing career full-time. Emerald does social media for a small handful of companies, including Cognitive Leap.

    Edward Hallowell, M.D.

    Edward (Ned) Hallowell, M.D. is a board-certified child and adult psychiatrist and world authority on ADHD. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Tulane Medical School, and was a Harvard Medical School faculty member for 21 years. He is the Founder of The Hallowell ADHD Centers in Boston MetroWest, New York City, San Francisco, Palo Alto and Seattle. He has spent the past four decades helping thousands of adults and children live happy and productive lives through his strength-based approach to neurodiversity, and has ADHD and dyslexia himself.
