Cognitive Leap wins Best Paper at 13th International Conference on Disability, Virtual Reality & Associated Technologies

(soon to be announced by the organizer)

Reaching for the future of clinical VR

In September 2021, the 13th International Conference on Disability, Virtual Reality & Associated Technologies brought leading experts in innovative applications for virtual reality together in Serpa, Portugal. In addition to delivering a keynote address, Dr. Skip Rizzo, who serves as Cognitive Leap’s Director of Research and Director of Medical Virtual Reality at USC’s Institute for Creative Technologies, received the award for Best Paper for his work with Cognitive Leap. The award-winning paper presented research on Cognitive Leap’s flagship Virtual Reality Attention Tracker (VRAT), which places users in a lifelike virtual classroom and measures their responses, including head movements and reaction times, to realistic distractions. Not only has this groundbreaking technology allowed researchers to gather more comprehensive data on Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), it has opened the possibility of establishing a neurotypical attention baseline for accurately measuring the severity of ADHD symptoms. VRAT is currently under review for FDA approval.
